A Famosa Melaka has accompanied the historic Melaka throughout its glorious days. A 40-metre high watchtower once stood in the Northwest corner of this fortress. The British had almost destroyed the whole complex when Sir Stamford Raffles arrived in 1808. He was able to stop the destruction.
