Solar boats photo copyrighted by: Galen R. Frysinger The boats to the south of the pyramid are solar boats in which the soul of the king symbolically traveled through the heavens with the sun god. The boats in the pits by the upper temple were used by the king as Horus to travel throughout Egypt and maintain order in his ream.
