The Todaiji Temple photo copyrighted by: Brian McMorrow Todaiji was the provincial temple of Yamato Province
and the head of all the provincial temples. The temple took more than 15 years to build. The main hall is still the worlds largest wooden
building, even though it was rebuilt in 1790 at only
two-thirds of the original size.
