Wat Ho Pha Bang photo copyrighted by: Brian McMorrow The Haw Pha Bang is constructed for the purpose of housing the Pha Bang Buddha Image,
the most sacred image in Luang Prabang, and the one that gave its name to the town.
Originally to be funded by small contributions from all over the country, construction of
the shrine was interrupted by invasions, wars, revolution and the end of the monarchy.
